May Community Meeting

Learning Disabilities - What You Want To Know

Speakers: Dr. Alan Kwasman, Developmental Pediatrician and Dr. Benjamin Kohn, Developmental/Behavioral Optometrist

Drs. Kwasman and Kohn will present an overview of the most common learning disabilities and their signs and symptoms. They will talk about the role of the school in learning disabilities.

Adult Literacy Classes

For adults wishing to enhance and/or develop reading skills
Also beneficial for teens wishing to develop reading skills
Low fee: $10 every 2 months
New class begins Monday January 11th, 2010 at 5:30 PM
Then...........every Monday & Wednesday

This program is designed for people 14 years or older and uses a multisensory approach involving the use of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile pathways of learning. It was developed by the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. It is heavily phonetic, each lesson spiraling from the previous sessions. Each lesson is taught on DVD and is facilitated by Eleanor Colombo, a retired reading teacher.
